Data about Maine adults in homes with carbon monoxide detectors are available for the years 2011-2013, 2015-2016, and 2018. Emergency department visit data are available for 2001-2020. Hospitalization data are available for single and/or combined years for 2001-2020. Mortality data are available for single years for 2000-2020.
Why track carbon monoxide poisoning?
By tracking carbon monoxide poisoning data, we can monitor trends over time and identify groups at high-risk for carbon monoxide poisoning. Maine also uses survey data to track the percentage of homes in Maine that have a CO detector. Combined, these measures are used to plan and evaluate prevention efforts and track the impact of public health policy aimed at preventing carbon monoxide poisoning.
